The main goal for this study is to evaluate the impact and policy responses of international migration of skilled health professionals on the health sector of Ghana. In particular it verified the impact by way of examining the positive and negative impacts of international migration on the individual migrant and the health sector of Ghana. The study further verified the impact of migrants who have returned to Ghana. Another aim of the study is the desire to fill a gap about knowledge on evaluating the impact of international migration of skilled health professionals from Ghana and creating an evidence base upon which policy can be built. Even though extensive studies had been undertaken in Asia especially in the Philippines, evidence from the literature shows that few such studies had been carried out in Africa as a whole and Ghana in particular.
