Professor William Young is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Chief Investigator in the Nanocomm Hub at Monash University. He has a distinguished professional and academic career, having worked at Monash University since 1975 (42 years) and, before joining Monash, in the transport industry in England, Germany and several states of Australia for four years. He has also held visiting positions at Oxford, Nanyang, Karlsruhe, Michigan State and Hong Kong universities, and the Australian Bureau of Transport Economics and Communication Economics. Professor Young has wide-ranging interests and has researched, consulted and published widely in the land-use/transport/environment interaction, road safety, parking, engineering management and education areas. He has been honoured for lifetime contributions by the Transport Industry Awards by ITE and the ARRB Group, and was named 2011 Alumnus of the Year by the Department of Civil Engineering at Monash University.
