This research paper is entitled ''The international protection of internally displaced persons: the case of displaced persons from the Malian armed conflict''. It aims to reflect on the effectiveness of international protection of IDPs. The study is essentially based on the qualitative method. At the end of such a study, the results are overwhelming. The mechanisms for the protection of IDPs do not provide effective protection for these people. At the national level, the absence of specific standards for the protection of IDPs was noted. The rules protecting IDPs are limited to policies, programs or action plans. At the international level, the rules protecting IDPs are scattered in different international standards. This makes it difficult to access them. In addition, the lack of coordination of humanitarian action, coupled with the lack of will on the part of certain actors and the ineffectiveness of mechanisms for repressing violations of international law, reduces the chances of IDPs receiving adequate protection.
