The explosive growth of the Internet, inherent flaws in its basic structure, and the need to transfer sensitive information for Internet applications like electronic mail, Internet banking, and Internet commerce have resulted in serious security concerns. This dictionary aims at providing reliable definitions and descriptions of Internet security terms in clear and precise English. The dictionary covers five main areas: (1) authentication; (2) network-level security; (3) firewall design and implementation, and remote management; (4) Internet security policies, risk analysis, integration across platforms, management and auditing, mobile code security Java/Active X/scripts, and mobile agent code; and (5) security in Internet commerce. Information has come from various magazine and journal articles in network and Internet security, Internet books, and RFCs. Though primarily a repository of Internet security terms, the book also contains many terms relating to server processes, TCP/IP, and routing.
