The object of this book was to study the maths curriculum proposals for primary school II of the São Paulo State Department of Education. The documents analysed were the Curriculum Guides for Primary Education from 1975; the Curriculum Proposal for Mathematics Education: Primary Education from 1992; and the São Paulo State Curriculum: Mathematics and Its Technologies from 2011. The problem that guided our investigation can be presented as follows: how do the curriculum documents approach the subject of maths and its articulation with other subjects? The aim of the research was to find out how the documents deal with the relationship between maths and other primary school subjects. Our research itinerary involved analysing the curriculum documents produced by the São Paulo State Department of Education (SEE/SP). The research's theoretical references were based on Silva (2010), Apple (2006), Moreira (1989), Sacristan (2000) and Lima (2011).
