Good conversation requires resourcefulness, patience, tact, the ability to listen, a certain manner of expression and an awareness of social conventions.This is a study of the intonation patterns of English Mentors at APIIITs based on which an attempt is made to find out the deviations from the intonation patterns of RP (Received Pronunciation).The analysis of the data revealed that the informants have no perfect idea on intonation patterns of Tonality, Tone & Tonicity and most of them went wrong in the division of tone groups, using the right tones and selection of the tonic syllables on the content word.
