The relevance of the topic of intrauterine developmental delay syndrome in the modern world is determined by the peculiarities of the daily practice of obstetrician-gynecologists and neonatologists. The breakthrough in modern perinatology has led to the need to solve the problems associated with antenatal protection of the fetus. At the same time, the increase in the proportion of newborns with delayed intrauterine development is connected both with the improvement of methods of antenatal diagnosis and with the instability of socio-economic conditions in modern society. IUFD syndrome is one of the most frequent causes of perinatal morbidity (up to 40%), and is the second most important cause of perinatal mortality after prematurity. About 30 million newborns with intrauterine growth retardation are registered every year. Fetal growth retardation is considered by the American College of Obstetricians-Gynecologists as "the most common and complex problem of modern obstetrics.
