Ischemic stroke is a public health problem. Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) is an indicated arterial recanalization therapy in the acute phase. In our study we evaluated the experience of our center. We compared the motor disability score at a distance 3months between a first group of thrombolyzed patients and a second group of patients treated with conventional therapy. We determined the predictive factors of significant residual functional disability or mortality at a period 3months a total of 56 thrombolyzed patients were included. The mean age was 56.1 years. At 3 mo of La Tiv 55.8% of patients had a mild to moderate degree of disability. In-hospital mortality was 17.9%. There was no significant difference between the two groups in the percentage of favorable outcome. In the Tiv group, patients who died were significantly older, had significantly higher initial and H24 NIHSS scores, and had extensive lesions on brain imaging. An age of 60 years and a high NIHSS score at 24hours were independently predictive of significant residual disability.
