Autorenporträt
George The Poet's socio-political, street-savvy verse has already attracted the attention of artists, actors, politicians and royalty alike. In addition to breaking startling new ground on the poetry circuit, he has been enlisted as an ambassador for The Duke of York's iDEA initiative, a regular speaker for TED and an advisor for the BBC diversity trust. Now the 23 year old BRITs Critic's Choice Award nominee is making significant inroads into music, having featured on Labrinth, Emeli Sande, Paolo Nutini and Naughty Boy records, collaborated with Idris Elba on his forthcoming 'Mi Mandela' album, and supported Nas, Maverick Sabre and Common on tour. Following on from the recently released Radio 1 playlisted and championed debut single '1,2,1,2', his 'The Chicken and The Egg' EP is due out on 1st December 2014 via Chris Blackwell's PALM, while the announcement of a nationwide headline UK tour in February comes hot on the heels of a sell out live show at The Scala. With his debut album due for release via Island records around next year's General election and his first book of poetry set to be published in the Spring, 2015 will see George The Poet not only emerge as one of the UK's most unique music acts, but also as the compelling voice of a generation.
