Robert C. Solomon (1942 2007) war Professor für Wirtschaft und Philosophie an der University of Texas in Austin. Viele seiner über vierzig Werke sind zu Klassikern der modernen Philosophie geworden; zuletzt erschien True to Our Feelings. What Our Emotions Are Really Telling Us (2006), auf Deutsch ist "Eine kurze Geschichte der Philosophie" (gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Kathleen M. Higgins, 2000) lieferbar.
