This book is an introductory textbook aimed at undergraduate civil engineering students taking the core course of Reinforced Concrete Design at many Saudi Arabian Universities. The Saudi Building Code (SBC) has been published in 2007 and its legal implementation is gradually becoming in effect and soon will be the only accepted documentation regulating the design of reinforced concrete structures in the kingdom. Prior to this publication, no textbook on reinforced concrete design conforming to the SBC has been made available in the literature. Hence, there is a need for a book that explains the SBC based reinforced concrete design concepts in order to facilitate the teaching of the topic in Saudi universities. This is the goal of this book. The scope of the book focuses on the aspects that are relevant to the reinforced concrete design industry as it is practiced in Saudi Arabia. The book explains the theory and mechanics of reinforced concrete design and the pertinent rules and regulations of the SBC.
