In Nigeria, primary, secondary and higher education degree certificates are regarded as the gateway to social, political and economic development. As a result, a lot of emphasis is placed on the acquisition of certificates, this makes the strength, security and well-being of Nigeria to rest heavily on the quality of education provided for her citizens, and it also makes the acquisition of educational qualifications a coveted desire of many. Cheating behaviour undermines the quality of education and it s against the education system s major aims to create responsible and respectful citizens. Cheating in its multifarious manifestations among students cannot be ignored, not only does it undermine the grading process, robbing teachers of their ability to access the accomplishments of their students and to give proper response and reward, it also impairs the ability of the university to certify to the outside world the skills and attainments of it graduates The University view assessment as a means of promoting student learning as well as providing evidence of that learning. It is then reasonable to investigate the specific factors that predispose undergraduate students to cheating.
