La Dra. Watson es licenciada en Ingeniería Mecánica por la Universidad Técnica de Riga y tiene un máster y un doctorado por la London South Bank University. Sus intereses de investigación se centran en la ingeniería ferroviaria y la sostenibilidad. Actualmente participa en dos proyectos internacionales en Australia y Ecuador. Es miembro del PWI y del ICE.
