Wellbeing has been of paramount concern to scholars since antiquity, and the pursuit of wellbeing has of late become a central part of western life. In the spirit of positive psychology, the salutary constructs of wellbeing and optimal functioning are explored, and Investment in Self as a wellbeing construct is established. To corroborate Investment in Self, its relationship with Emotional Intelligence and wellbeing are investigated. Satisfaction with Life, Relationship Satisfaction and Job Satisfaction served as indicators of wellbeing and optimal functioning, as they are considered to be among the real-life outcomes of wellness. The analysis of the psychometric data gathered for each of the constructs validates Investment in Self as a wellbeing construct, as the examination confirms that Investment in Self contributes positively to wellbeing and optimal functioning.
