Small and medium-sized enterprises are an important link in the socio-economic development of countries, especially those in development.This study, conducted among a sample of SME managers in the city of Matadi in Central Kongo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, makes a real diagnosis of the ills that ruin the growth dynamics of these structures both in the DRCongo and in Africa.Indeed, it describes the SMEs from their creation, their categorization by sector of activity, the difficulties they encounter in the functioning and the means implemented by them to circumvent them in order to survive, their strengths and weaknesses...Also, the study reviews the contribution of these SMEs to the economic growth of the city in terms of GDP (through the production of goods and services), in the tax revenues mobilized by the Provincial Directorate of Taxes of Central Kongo without forgetting that related to the creation of direct jobs. Moreover, in order to accompany them, a series of public policies to be put in place were proposed.To achieve this, the study used primary and secondary data.
