The face is the only part of the body which can not be concealed. To improve facial attractiveness, many health therapies have been developed. For a pleasant smile, teeth have to be in an ideal alignment and for the correction of the position of teeth, orthodontics has provided many appliances. The conventional fixed appliances and even removable appliances help in providing an aesthetic look to the person. For children to wear such bulky, metallic and unaesthetic appliances is not considered unusual and is socially accepted. Also, in children, malocclusion is more severe and hence they require sophisticated fixed appliances. But in adults the picture is different. After reaching adulthood, due to the maturation of jaws and face, only minor malalignment of teeth remained in majority of cases. If an adult wants to look better, fixed appliances are mandatory. From the point of social acceptance, adults loathe wearing such bulky metallic appliances, especially in office and social occasions, unlike majority of the children.
