The advent of the smart home represents a sharp and sudden change in house management. The IoT devices that can be installed inside the house, improve the living experience in all respects, increasing comfort, safety and optimizing consumption. The Smart Home is a growing market and the possibilities of using smart devices inside the home have not yet been fully explored.Demographic trends show that the Italian and global population is aging and, at the same time, people's lifestyles are becoming increasingly frenetic and less sedentary. Now more than ever, the issue of caring for the elderly is becoming more important. IoT technologies can be a real possibility to take care of the loved ones and help them live independently until they prove to be self-sufficient.The thesis fits into this context. After performing an analysis of the market and of the solutions already present, research was carried out to identify the most suitable device for monitoring elderly people that could also be consistent with the business needs of Generali Jeniot, the Generali Group company with which I collaborated during the writing of this thesis.
