The Iowa State Cyclones (commonly referred to as the "'Clones") are the athletic teams of Iowa State University. The university is a member of the Big 12 Conference and competes in NCAA Division I, fielding 16 varsity teams in 11 sports. Iowa State's Athletic Director, Jamie Pollard (2005-current), has dramatically changed the direction of the athletic program. Since hired, Pollard has replaced head coaches in: football, men's basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, soccer, cross country/track and field, women's golf, tennis, and softball. He has dramatically increased the athletic budget and has improved player academics. Additionally, he has initiated major renovations to Hilton Coliseum and Jack Trice Stadium, and has begun construction of a basketball practice facility.
