Jenny Deane has had her work read on the radio but this is her first collection of poems. They are sharp observations of the world around us and the way we lead our everyday lives. Some pose difficult questions, encouraging us to go deeper, to revise our opinions. To think again. Others are about love and loss, sadness and joy, nature and the natural world. Occasionally they may make us laugh out loud. Thoughtful and insightful, often emotional, all are a recognition of Jenny's light touch and instinctive sense of balance.

Jenny Deane has written all her life, ever since she was old enough to read. She has a love affair with pencil and paper and really enjoys painting pictures with words. Born in 1942, married with two daughters, Jenny grew up and went to school in Wimbledon before going on to study dress design at Kingston College of Art. After a brief spell as a model she joined the International Publishing Corporation as a fashion editor. She gave up her career long ago to bring up her two daughters and to spend more time restoring the old Victorian house near Kew Gardens where she has lived for the last thirty years. She is a natural 'handyman' and in her element sawing, hammering, painting, planning and planting gardens and now that her daughters are grown up, she finds herself writing again.
