Autorenporträt
Cindy Cope began training animals at an early age, having grown up on a horse farm in central California. She trained and showed Morgan horses all over the US and is a former Grand National Champion. Having lived and worked throughout the US, in 1997 Cindy and her family relocated to Germany, where they would spend the next sixteen years. While in a leadership role with the American Women's Club in central Germany, she became associated with VITA e.V. Assistenzhunde, a service dog organization specializing in children and young adults in wheelchairs. The organization was approached by a US veteran seeking a service dog to help with his severe PTSD. Cindy successfully created an individualized program that began his recovery. The author currently resides in Northeast Florida with her husband Jack, and works as a trainer and Puppy Program manager for K9s For Warriors, a service dog organization specializing in veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and military sexual trauma (MST).
