Born in Tangier, Morocco, Anouar Majid is the author of five critically acclaimed books on Islam and the West, including Unveiling Traditions (Duke UP, 2000), Freedom and Orthodoxy (Stanford UP, 2004), A Call for Heresy (University of Minnesota Press, 2007), We Are All Moors (University of Minnesota Press, 2009) and Islam and America: Building a Future Without Prejudice (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012 & 2015). Majid has written for national and international publications, and his work has been profiled in major media outlets. He is the author of the novel Si Yussef (first published in 1992) and the editor of Tingis, a free online magazine dedicated to a new reading of Islam and its traditions.
