Cholecystitis is one of the most widespread bacterial infections with a global extension. These infections are predominantly caused by Escherichia coli. Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing organisms are emerging as a cause of infection in patients in many areas of the world. The purpose of the study was conducted to isolate and identify bacterial causes of cholecystitis from patients and identify the frequency of ESBLs genes among E. coli isolates obtained from patients with a significant bacterial infection.
