In this study, the phenylpropanoid verbascoside, identified by NMR, which has pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective, was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of the aerial parts of Buddleja stachyoides Cham. & Schltdl. Produktbeschreibung
& Schltdl. The analytical method using high-performance liquid chromatography was developed and validated to quantify the verbascoside content present in the crude alcoholic extract of the aerial parts. It proved to be reliable, sensitive, precise, simple and low-cost, as well as meeting all the validation parameters required by ANVISA's RE No. 899 of May 29, 2003. A long-chain fatty acid, identified as triacontanoic acid, was also isolated from the hexane fraction of B. stachyoides roots. This book is aimed at health professionals and researchers and offers them a contribution to research, development and the production chain of herbal medicines and/or pharmaceutical products based on extracts from B. stachyoides, or any other plant species containing the substance verbascoside.
