Isosorbide, an antianginal drug is also a pharmacological donor of nitric oxide.Here we present a study in which local 5% isosorbide has shown a antiinflammatory and antiosteoclastic activity in the management of chronic periodontitis. This is the first study of its kind in humans involving local application of isosorbide in periodontal regeneration. This work will be of great value for academicians, students and clinicians.

Dr Saif Khan is working as assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics and Community Dentistry, Dr Z A Dental College & Hospital,Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (U P) India.He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Periodontal regeneration and periodontal medicine are his area of interest and research.
