The responsibility of every human being lies in the preservation and enhancement of his or her cultural identity. This is the greatest pride of every self-worthy person. The repudiation of one's original values leads inexorably to "cultural alienation", which in turn is the result of "cultural marginalisation". The only way to reconcile with one's original cultural being is to return to one's roots, i.e. to preserve the traditional values of the societal life of the past. In short, no significant progress can be envisaged in terms of development if one relies on a cultural foundation as erroneous as that of today's Gabon. Clearly, the golden age for the development of this country is not for tomorrow. The solution for the development of the Gabonese therefore lies a priori in his reconciliation with his culture, through the practice of his rites, habits and customs. He should therefore radically refuse to allow his culture to become a museum, which will undoubtedly marginalise it.
