Dr h.c. Angela Rosengart, born in Lucerne in 1932, joins her father's gallery in 1948 as an 'apprentice', which is simultaneously her start as a collector with her first acquisition of a work, Little X by Paul Klee. In 1949, a first encounter with Picasso in Paris, numerous contacts with Chagall, Matisse, Braque, Miró, and Marino Marini, among others. In 1957, becomes a partner in the Galerie Rosengart. In 1978, she and her father donate works by Picasso to the City of Lucerne; they are awarded the 'Ehrennadel' (badge of honour) of the City of Lucerne in 1981. In 1985, death of her father Siegfried Rosengart. In 1992, the establishment of the Rosengart Foundation; in 2000, acquisition of the erstwhile branch building of the Swiss National Bank in Lucerne for the Rosengart Foundation; in 2002, opening of the Museum Rosengart Collection. Is awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Zurich in 2003. Lives in Lucerne.
