Reusability of software development is a requisite
for the IT industry. The objective of reusing and
therefore economising SW development has been
strongly emphasised in any industry in recent years.
Lately the area of business processes to enable the
SW development has also been requested to be
generically reusable for the development of new
products in the telecom industry. The main objective
of reusability in this context is to support the
profitable development of a Telecom Operator s
products and services. The affected business
processes stretch from requirements mgmt, design
over development to change and release mgmt followed
by support processes. This work describes the
approaches Product Life Cycle Management and
Software Product Lines, followed by a case study of
a current practice. The analysis focuses on
solutions in regards to reusability of business
processes and software development. The objective is
to provide a synthesis framework of PLM and SPL
based on which a release management process for
Telecom Operators is modelled.
