Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 is made up of a collection of best practices found across the range of IT services. Applicable ITIL implementation guidance is lacking; particularly for the U. S. government agency which is faced with the task of providing the same mission and services with less financial resources. ITIL can leverage some efficiency and costs savings for the government agency, if a methodology to implement can be found. This book will describe in some detail the history and processes of ITIL V3 with a methodology for implementation particularly applicable to the government agency. This methodology will explore the relevance of the phased approach to implementation and the exploration of the critical tasks performed by the agency employees aligned to the ITIL processes to reach an implementation decision state. The end result is the ability of agency leadership to make a more informed decision on which ITIL process(s) will provide the greatest benefit to the government agency when implemented into current business practices.
