The word race was invented to mean subspecies because the Anglo-Saxons and Europeans made the claim of representing the species of Homo sapiens. Therefore, all non-European people were inferior to them. This book examines the impact that the confusion of race and ethnicity has had on America and how efforts to preserve the myth has taken on drastic measures by proponents of the myth.
