"It's After the End of the World! Don't You Know That Yet?" is a scholarly work investigating the overlooked story of Creative Musicians in American and world culture. Newsome explores the many factors that forced musicians to minimize their Creativity, and uncovers the many Creative methods that Creative Musicians began to use in order to liberate themselves from these restrictions. Using the art of autobiography, as well as novel experiential research techniques, Newsome illuminates the oppressive occupational situation for urban, African American musicians, but demonstrates that these Creative methods can also be applied to the culture at-large, and by diverse occupational groups. By showing just what was at stake for these Creative Musicians, "It's After the End of the World! Don't You Know That Yet?" makes a contribution that extends beyond academia, beyond music, and to all Creation.
