Jody was a boy who was born deaf. He was his parent's first child. They initially did not know what to do or how to handle raising a child who was deaf. Thankfully, they had caring doctors who supported them along the way as well as a beautiful, loving child who always wore a smile on his face and who showed them the importance of loving yourself just the way God created.

Autorenporträt
Candance "TaylorMade" Taylor, Saint Louis based author. She was inspired to write this series of children's picture books on deafness because she has experienced first hand the struggles that Deaf people go through. Due to having a sister who is deaf and growing up in the deaf culture all of her life she has seen deaf people get treated unfairly, looked over due to lack of communication and understanding of the Deaf culture, and be told that they're not normal if they do not "speak" the English language. She wants people to know that deafness is beautiful, that ASL is a "real" language and that no matter if you sign, speak, wear a cochlear or a hearing aid or don't wear either, YOU are still uniquely made by God and can become "anything" you choose to, if you put your mind to it.
