Polly Evans kam 1970 in Ashby de la Zouch zur Welt, jenem Ort, der vor Jahren einstimmig zur "zweitlangweiligste Stadt Englands" gewählt wurde. Dementsprechend verabscheut Polly Evans eigentlich jede Art von Gefahr oder Unbehaglichkeit. Doch seitdem sie als Zehnjährige mit ihrer Familie nach Tokio zog, plagt sie unstillbare Neugier auf fremde Welten. Nach dem Studium in England arbeitete Polly bei einem Londoner Verlag, später als Journalistin in Hongkong. Für ihre Artikel aus China, Thailand, Vietnam und Kambodscha erhielt sie den "Human Rights Press Award".Polly Evans lebt in London.
