The writer of this book was a police officer for 22 years. He has worked the New York City subway system for 14 of those years. five years he worked in an outdoor pistol range training officers and three years at an indoor range where he incurred large doses of lead in his blood system. Fresh out of the Academy he was assigned to Harlem, New York City, where crime was rampant. He worked alone without a two-way radio for his first year on the job. He saw mayhem, his police officer friends got slashed, shot, assaulted, and murdered, as he too was assaulted seven times during his career. He worked the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn areas of New York City. He managed to improve his law-enforcement skills while constantly shooting expert. He went to college for his AA degree in criminal justice, his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from New York City College and his Masters in public administration from John Jay Criminal College in New York City in addition, he took various police courses to help in the detection of crime. While he was assigned to headquarters (police range) he was tasked with writing a police exam for new police officers. He was also tasked with doing a job analysis of what a police officer does. He made many outstanding arrests which are featured in his book proving what he wrote was the truth, accurate and unbiased. The author hopes that his experiences might encourage others to follow in his shoes. As we all know law enforcement needs all the help It can get.
