The 2000 census found 3,577 people in the township, 776 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township. The village of Minster is located in eastern Jackson Township, and a small portion of the village of New Bremen lies in its far northeast corner. Jackson Township contains slightly more than nineteen square miles. A tiny part of Lake Loramie is located in the township's southeast. It is one of thirty-seven Jackson Townships statewide. Originally a part of German Township, the township was formed in 1858.
