This collection of essays and critical collection of sources provides a long overdue overview of the dissemination and transmission of Jacob Böhmes (1575-1625) works. There is a particular focus on the collection of original manuscripts, manuscript copies and early printed versions which were compiled by the Dutch businessman Abraham Willemsz van Beyerland (1586/87-1648) in the 17th century. In addition to a detailed description of their origins, which reflect the climate of tolerance in Amsterdam at that time, there is a description of the collection up to the present time. The articles in this volume combine 20 years of Böhme research at the Ritman Research Institute in Amsterdam.
Autorenporträt
Frans A. Janssen, geboren 1939, studierte Niederländische Sprache und Literatur und Buchgeschichte an der Universität Amsterdam. Zwischen 1969 und 1979 war er als Philologe an der Herausgabe von Erasmus' Opera omnia beteiligt. Von 1983 bis 2002 leitete er die Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica und den dazugehörigen Verlag «In De Pelikaan» in Amsterdam. Zwischen 1989 und 2004 war er Professor für Buchwissenschaft und Handschriftenkunde an der Amsterdamer Universität.
Professor Janssen hat zahlreiche Aufsätze und Bücher zur Buchgeschichte, Bibliographie und niederländischen Literatur veröffentlicht.
