The recent financial crisis has lead to a process of re-evaluation and the role of financial institutions and their connection to - or disconnection from - the wider economy and society. This debate has generally failed to consider alternatives to western political and economic ideologies. Researchers and students interested in the ethics of finance, accounting and economics and the need to rebalance global finance to meet human and ecological well-being, will find 'Jainism and Ethical Finance' a scholarly and illuminating evaluation of Jain Dharma.. In the light of current concerns about financial and banking systems, and the larger disconnection between financial and environmental policy making, economic growth and social justice, this book provides a timely alternative perspective.
