Gabrielle Carey co-wrote the bestselling Puberty Blues while still in her teens, and thereafter published equally acclaimed books of biography, autobiography and memoir. Her book Moving Among Strangers, a study of the poet and novelist Randolph Stow, was joint winner of the 2014 Prime Minister's Award for Non-Fiction and shortlisted for the 2015 National Biography Award. In 2020 her Only Happiness Here: In Search of Elizabeth von Arnim led to shortlisting for the Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship.
