Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855) was an English novelist and poet from Yorkshire, one of the three Brontë sisters, all of whose novels became classics. She is best known for her novel Jane Eyre, which she published under the male pseudonym Currer Bell. Written in the first person by a female narrator, Jane Eyre was groundbreaking for its time, and it went on to become a huge success. Charlotte died at the age of 38.
