His main attribute is dribbling ability. An unsuccessful youth graduate at Real Madrid, Guerrero also had loan stints with Real Jaén and Terrassa FC, respectively in the second and third divisions, before being released in the 1999 summer, after which he signed with Albacete Balompié, in the former category (20 league goals in two seasons). In 2001 02, at Racing de Santander, he helped the Cantabria outfit achieve La Liga promotion, going on to establish as first-choice in the subsequent seasons at the club (an average of 11 goals per campaign).
