Javier Ambrois (born May 9, 1932 in Montevideo, Uruguay - died June 25, 1975 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a former Uruguayan footballer currently played for clubs of Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil and the Uruguay national football team in the FIFA World Cup Switzerland 1954. He and Humberto Maschio (Argentina), are the all-time top scorers of the 1957 South American Championship, with 9 goals each. The Uruguayan national football team represents Uruguay in international association football and is controlled by the Uruguayan Football Association, the governing body for football in Uruguay. The current head coach is Óscar Tabárez. The Uruguayan side is commonly referred to as La Celeste (The Sky Blue [One]) or Los Charrúas.
