For the 2003 season, he started the year with the Class A Beloit Snappers, where he went 2-7 and had a 1.82 ERA. He was bumped up to the Double-A Huntsville Stars later in the year. Playing with Huntsville for the rest of the season and part of the 2004 season, he accumulated an 8-10 record with them in that time period.
