Jerry Gwin Bails (June 26, 1933 November 23, 2006) was an American popular culturist. Known as The Father of Comic Book Fandom, he was one of the first scholars to approach the comic book genre as a field worthy of serious academic study, and was the major guiding light in the establishment of a concerted comics fandom network in the early 1960s.
