Virgilio Elizondo nació en San Antonio, Texas y actualmente es el teólogo hispano más reconocido en los Estados Unidos. Obtuvo su doctorado en el Instituto Católico de París, en 1978, luego de haber fundado el Centro Cultural México Americano. Autor y conferencista reconocido en temas de espiritualidad y teología hispana en el contexto de la emigración, la frontera y el mestizaje. La revista TIME lo nombró como uno de los líderes espirituales más innovadores del siglo XXI. Actualmente trabaja como profesor en el Centro de Estudios Latinos de la Universidad de Notre Dame y como pastor asociado en la parroquia de Santa Rosa de Lima en San Antonio, Texas.
