Jesús Eduardo Amaral FAIA (Humacao, Puerto Rico, 1927) is a Puerto Rican architect and educator. As partner in the firm Amaral y Morales, he produced some of Puerto Rico's most notable modern architecture primarily from 1950 to 1970. He is the founder and first head of the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico (1966 1969). Amaral was born in 1927 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. He studied civil engineering (1948) and architecture (1951) at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. With architect Efrer Morales (1928 1992) he formed Amaral y Morales (1956 1969), one of Puerto Rico's pioneering modern firms. In 1966 he founded the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico, the island's first architecture school. He was both President of Puerto Rico's Institute of Architects, as well as President of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
