Having lost his closest family members, Joe lost the will to live. He turned to booze, music, and parties to pass existence, never once thinking of a future. His parents hated him. He was a failure at school. He felt at home only in the party barns he snuck out to attend, so he could drink and jam with his friends in an unlikely punk band, surrounded by other kids whose futures were in doubt, other kids who had nowhere else they belonged. Having an unlikely friendship with the bell ringer Santa on the corner was the only reason Joe looked forward to Christmas. Santa knew him and joked with him often about his continued place on the naughty list. Since Joe never got presents, his friendship with Santa took away the sting of neglect, and Santa always had good advice. How was Joe to know his seasonal friendship with Santa would alter the course of his life and land him in a cancer ward caring for another kid who'd lost the will to live? How was Joe to know the Christmas spirit wasn't just for good kids but for all kids? Surrounded by sick kids, Joe finds more to life, and his new friend, Colt, fights harder to get better and join the world. But it will take a genuine Christmas miracle to save them.
