Joe Semler was a very popular pitcher in the 1920's and 30's and played in Pittsburgh for the Beaver Falls Elks, Homewood-Brushton, and Bellevue clubs to name but a few in the semi-pro circuit. He then went on to play for the Hazleton Mountaineers, Scranton Miners, York White Roses, and Wilkes-Barre Barons in the New York - Pennsylvania minor league and Nashville Volunteers in the Southern Association. Over the course of almost 20 years he played a lot of interesting teams to include those that traveled the country barnstorming and the Negro Leagues in exhibition games. Reading through his game summaries is a snapshot of baseball during the roaring 20's and depressed 30's. This book isn't a biography of Joe Semler but rather a detail of the games he played in during this crucial time in baseball history.
