Brian Tashima was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, but it was too warm and sunny for him, so he moved to Vancouver, Washington in 2000 and has lived there ever since. Besides being an author, he is also a musician who has won a Hoku award (Hawaii's version of the Grammys) and currently fronts the bands Second Player Score and Walk On Gray. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors for Autism Empowerment and is a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators), Willamette Writers, and the Northwest Independent Writers Association. In his free time, he plays golf, herds cats, and hangs out with his two awesome kids.
