Phelps Stokes and Raymond Hood. In 1897 Howells founded, with the former, Howells & Stokes, with which he helped design St. Paul's Chapel at Columbia University. The two went their separate ways, however, after 1913, with Howells choosing to pursue commercial projects and eventually partnering with Raymond Hood, with whom Howells designed the Beekman Tower and the Daily News Building in New York City as well as the Tribune Tower in Chicago.
