Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Jonathan Mark "Jonny" Howson (born 21 May 1988) is an English footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Football League Championship team Leeds United. A graduate of Leeds' prolific youth system, he serves as club captain. Howson was born in Morley and started his professional career at Leeds United. He is the current longest serving player at the club, having served under four different managers and making over 150 appearances since he made his debut in the League Cup in September 2006. In April 2008, United manager Gary McAllister awarded the captaincy to a nineteen year-old Howson for the league game against Millwall, making him the youngest player to captain the club since the iconic Billy Bremner led the side in the early 1960s. Since 2010, he has regularly captained the side in the absence of Richard Naylor. In July 2011, Howson was made thepermanent captain of Leeds United.
