Joseph Sievers, Ph.D. (1981) in Ancient History, Columbia University, is Professor of Jewish History and Literature of the Hellenistic Period at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. His publications include Synopsis of the Greek Sources for the Hasmonean Period (Rome, 2001). Gaia Lembi holds a doctorate in Jewish Studies (2003) from the University of Turin and is pursuing a second one in Ancient History at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. In 2004-2005 she was awarded a Lady Davis Fellowship at the Hebrew University.
